Happy New Year to all our Snapshot Girls!
We have a reason to celebrate….SSGs is now 3 YEARS OLD!! What a fantastic journey it has been so far…..we have grown and shrunk and then grown again in number (well if people will keep having babies!). Most importantly – our friendships with one another have deepened and we have laughed, cried and celebrated together over this past twelve months. We are so grateful that you have been with us on this journey, making the group what it has become…more than just photos.
It has been noticeable for a few months that we have been in need of a fresh injection of creativity and a new approach in order to keep us motivated and not becoming tired of the current format of projects.
It was after out last meeting that Christine suggested that instead of working towards a topic together over four weeks, that we each choose something that is more individual and then pursue that over several months using our regular get together to show our developing ideas, give feedback to one another and generate further ways to expand what we are doing. Genius. We have all got a creative/arty streak to us and this lends itself to us taking photography to more experimental levels, using other mediums if we so wish (come on you fine artists – show us what you are made of!).
I am hoping to arrange for some other third year photography students to come and share with us what they are working on as Bethan was certainly provoking to us in that regard.
So….as we venture into new territory in 2015, let us have lots of fun, take a few half decent photos and continue in our growing friendships with one another….thank you for being part of this journey, see you soon. x
