Having met and discussed further on Wednesday night, we have decided to continue with the Jacks of Swansea project for the foreseeable future and use this as the basis of our workshop in October.
We have been given the use of the upstairs of the Mission Gallery for an exhibition which will run before the workshop to showcase some of our photos. To link with the JoS project, we have agreed to produce images around the theme of “community”. The idea is that we play to our strengths – the varied and creative ways we can interpret this in photographs. What does community mean to you? How does it make you feel? How can you you depict this in a photo? Be free to do whatever you feel like. There are NO restrictions. We are hoping to be a lot more creative in how we display these as well.
So if you want to have a go at the Jacks of Swansea project then PLEASE DO. I am in need of some support to keep it going. For now we are working on photos where the subject is looking at you, they are in a public place and that you engage in a conversation to find out a little more about them to go with their picture. See the FB, Instagram or Twitter feed for ideas. It is getting quite a following!
In the meantime, get your thinking caps on, look at some poems, quotes and ideas around the theme of COMMUNITY. After a fairly chill 6 months, it is kind of exciting to have something to get our teeth into. Who know where this will lead?!
